Here is the the information for my show coming up in Key West with another very talented artist Cathy Rose. I can't wait to meet her and see her work.

Porcelain Sculptures, New Paintings at Lucky Street January 22
- Cathy Rose, whose porcelain sculpture has a wide emotionally resonant appeal, returns to Lucky Street Gallery on Sunday, January 22, with a large grouping of porcelain and found object pieces. The gallery will also show new work by Ashley Benton, a Colorado painter whose work was first shown in Key West during the New Artists show last December.
Cathy Rose, a long-term Lucky Street artist, creates small porcelain women—often in wooden boxes or boats and sometimes accompanied by birds --that have a wide appeal. A veteran on the craft show circuit, she won first place in mixed media at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, and regularly wins honors at such prestigious shows as Winter Park, Cherry Creek, Kansas City, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and the Sausalito Art Festival. She lives in New Orleans.
A recent show at Lucky Street featured large flying angels with wings padded with elegant scraps of silk and velvet; marionettes perched on wooden horses, small standing women holding tiny porcelain birds and spoons fashioned from unexpected combinations of porcelain, wood, steel, and even chopsticks. This year’s show will again feature porcelain women and other creatures joined with found objects gleaned from junk shops in New Orleans, flea markets in Paris, and yard sales in Houston.
The paintings of Ashley Benton share a similar appeal. Introduced to Lucky Street by Michel Delgado, Benton describes her paintings as “less than reality but more than a dream…trying to find the meeting place where dreams overlap with reality.” Her mixed media work uses pencil, watercolor, acrylic, paper, and collage elements overlaid with resin which gives greater depth. She is represented by galleries in Colorado and appeared at the New York City show of contemporary art in 2011.
This important show will kick off with a reception to meet Cathy Rose from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 22 at Lucky Street’s new address, 540 Greene Street. Gallery owner Sandra McMannis likes the idea of the occasional afternoon openings: “They provide a fresh way to see art in the daytime, as well as a welcome break from the rigid weeknight schedule for openings especially during the many competing events during season.
The public is invited to join collectors and visitors to the island to meet Cathy Rose during the afternoon vernissage. The work will be on display through Monday, January 30. The gallery is open daily during season. For further information, please call 305 294 3973.
